The ASRO is dedicated to the improvement of
the physical quality of life for persons with a spinal cord injury
and those with related neurological deficits, through targeted medical
and scientific research. The ASRO is also committed to the reduction
of spinal cord injuries through awareness programs for the general
public and prevention programs of targeted groups.
As many of you are aware, spinal cord injuries have no boundaries. Throughout
the world, many people suffer from paralysis caused by spinal cord injury. For
years, there has been discussions on how various organizations, all very worthy
in their cause, should communicate and work together to find a global answer
to paralysis caused by spinal cord injury.
At the time of the incorporation of the ASRO, the Board agreed to an alliance
with the Canadian Spinal Research Organization. We are proud of our strategic
alliance and feel that by working on an international basis our mandate can be
fulfilled.
