OVERVIEW
The CSRO is dedicated to the improvement of the physical quality of
life for persons with a spinal cord injury and those with related neurological
deficits, through targeted medical and scientific research. The CSRO
is also committed to the reduction of spinal cord injuries through awareness
programs for the general public and prevention programs fortargeted groups.
As many of you are aware, spinal cord injuries have no boundaries.
Throughout the world, many people suffer from paralysis caused by spinal
cord injury. For years, there has been discussions on how various organizations,
all very worthy in their cause, should communicate and work together
to find a global answer to paralysis caused by spinal cord injury. The
Canadian Spinal Research Organization, and its board, had committed itself
several years ago, to work with other organizations, and to collaborate,
if possible. As you may be aware, over the years CSRO has invested several
thousands of dollars in the United States. In fact, it was through the
US, that the 4-AP work was eventually brought to Canada. In our work
with various labs in the United States, we found it necessary to work
with an American organization to add to our presence and continue the
great work that we are doing.
The CSRO is proud to announce a strategic alliance with the American Spinal
Research Organization, which is the equivalent of a registered charity in the
United States, known as a 501 ( c ) ( 3 ) tax exempt corporation, with its
head office located in Niagara Falls, New York, USA.
The CSRO/ASRO alliance will help us maximize a strategic alliance
in our research and fundraising efforts.
