Update
Throughout the past 20 years, the friends of CSRO have shown
how much they supported spinal cure research by attending our fundraising
events or holding them on our behalf. This summer saw 18 events held
by or on behalf of the CSRO. Golf tournaments, Victorian luncheons
and dinner galas are some of the events that individuals attended in
order to help us find a cure for paralysis.
-
Uni-Select Golf Tournament – This is the second year that
Uni-Select, Canada’s leading network of independently
owned auto parts dealers, has selected the CSRO as the beneficiary
of its annual golf tournament. They raised $26,000 for the
CSRO, bringing their two year total to $44,000!
-
Kevin Weekes Celebrity Dinner Gala – Kevin
Weekes has been a long standing supporter of CSRO’s Shoot
For A Cure (SFAC) Hockey campaign and once again showed his commitment
by designating SFAC Hockey as the recipient charity of his 1st
Annual Kevin Weekes Celebrity Dinner Gala. Held at the York Event
Theatre on July 23, 2004 the event was a fun time for everyone
who attended.
-
Chris Beehler Open – The annual Chris Beehler
Open was once again held at the Colonnade Golf and Country Club
in Joyceville on August 18. Over the past 9 years, the Chris Beehler
Open has raised over $100,000 for the CSRO and SCI research.
-
Ladies go Back to Victorian Era to Raise
Money for the CSRO - 60
ladies, dressed in Victorian style clothing, packed into Nancy
Young’s
home in Bradford, Ontario on November 12 and 13 to reenact a Victorian
Christmas. Eating from genuine Victorian glass donated by Maxine
Gaddye, these women had a great time while raising money for SCI
research. A special thanks to Fern Fraser and Nancy Young for organizing
the event and donating the food.
There will be several Victorian-themed events taking place over
the summer and fall. There will be two Victorian teas on the weekends
of August 4-6 and August 11-13 in Ottawa. For more information,
you can contact Richard Fraser at 613-831-2607. Nancy and Fern
will also be holding another Victorian tea in Bradford in November.
You can reach them at 905-775-5541 or 905-830-4326.
These events would not have been such as a great success without
the volunteers, participants and corporate sponsors who came out to
support the CSRO. Thank you for helping us raise thousands of dollars
for SCI Research!
As
national not-for-profit organizations, both the CSRO and ASRO are
dependant on events to fundraise as well as raise awareness about
spinal cord injuries. Some of our events also help promote prevention
programs that both organizations are involved with.
If you or someone you know would like to be a part of or hold
your own event for the CSRO or ASRO, please contact our head
office for more information at 1-800-361-4004 or by e-mail at info@csro.com.
